Q. Do I have to be an alumnus of NIU to be a member of the Huskie Athletic Fund

Q. When is my Huskie Athletic Fund contribution due each year?

In order to receive football ticket, parking and hospitality benefits, you must make your pledge by April 22nd and the full payment must be made by June 30th

  • April 22nd: 2017 Huskie Athletic Fund Pledge Deadline
  • June 30th: Payment deadline for all football related benefits
  • September 1st: : NIU vs. Boston College 2017 Football Home Opener – GO HUSKIES!
In order to receive tax benefits for the 2017 calendar year, all contributions must be made by December 31st, 2017.

Q. Is my donation tax-deductible?

All contributions to NIU Athletics are considered gifts to Northern Illinois University and are credited at full value for purposes of the donor’s gift record at the Northern Illinois University Foundation. Any contribution that entitles the donor to purchase tickets is 80% deductible for income tax purposes, according to IRS Code Section 170 (I). In addition the IRS has ruled the 80% portion of your contribution is only tax deductible to the extent it exceeds the value of any additional benefits received. Individuals who make a contribution to NIU Athletics will be issued a tax receipt by the NIU Foundation.

Q. How can I get the best seats for NIU Football and Basketball?

Members of the Huskie Athletic Fund receive first priority for football and basketball premium seating. All ticket requests, including football road and postseason games, are determined by the benefit allocation process. The benefit allocation process is first determined by Annual Giving Level and then Priority Points within each Annual Giving Level.

Q. How do I improve my seat & parking location?

Please request new or upgraded seats and parking on your donor renewal form or by calling (815) 753-1923. After the deadline we will review all seat and parking requests and allocate based on 2015 donor level first and then priority points within each level.

Q. Why do I need to make two separate payments for my season tickets and for my donations?

To ensure minimum confusion between donations (including per seat contributions) and ticket purchases, we ask that two separate checks be made for each payment in order to create a more simplified process.
